Iskander has been, reportedly, instrumental in the formulation of President Putin's most recent foreign policy in the Northeast Asia which led to Putin's meeting with President Jong Il Kim of DPRK in August 2002 and his historic summit conference with Prime Minister Koizumi of Japan last year.
