Dear Friend:

We are pleased to share with you that Jin Hyun Kim, Chairman, World Peace Forum, has been named ICAS Distinguished Fellow, effective immediately. Jin Hyun earned his bachelor’s degree at Seoul National University, majoring in sociology. He also completed Nieman Fellow Course at Harvard University in 1979. In 1967, Jin Hyun started his professional career at Dong-A Ilbo, one of the major daily newspaper company in South Korea. From 1984 to 1990, he was the Editor-in-Chief of Dong-A Ilbo. From 1990 to 1993, Jin Hyun was the Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of South Korea. In 1993, he was bestowed President's Commendation Order of Government Merit (Chungjo Geunjung Medal). Jin Hyun also served Chairman of Korea Economic Daily and Munhwa Ilbo. From 1995 to 1999 he dedicated himself to education as the President of University of Seoul (previously Seoul City University).

Jin Hyun, in addition, contributed to the development of relationship of South Korea and other countries as a member of the Board of Governors of Pacific Forum CSIS. From 1999 to 2004, he was Chairman of Korea-Australia Foundation and further strengthened the relationship between two countries. Jin Hyun also was a member of the trustees of Research Committee of Korea-China Economic Cooperation from 2002 to 2004.

Currently, Jin Hyun is Chairman of World Peace Forum and Committee for the Establishment of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History of Prime Minister's Office, respectively. He resides in Seoul, South Korea.
