Biographic Sketch

The Honorable Doug Bereuter, a Republican from Nebraska, is serving his twelfth term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee and chairs the Subcommittee on International Monetary Policy and Trade.

Representative Bereuter is Vice Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Chairman of the Intelligence Policy and National Security Subcommittee. He serves also on the International Relations Committee and on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

He was a member of the Select Committee on U.S. National Security and Military/Commercial Concerns with the People’s Republic of China, known as the Cox Committee, which examined Chinese espionage and technology collection efforts in the United States. At the time he served on that Commission, he was Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Asia Pacific of the Committee on International Relations.

Congressman Bereuter is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and holds master’s degrees in City Planning and Public Administration from Harvard University.
