Yoon Shik Park

We are pleased to share with you that Yoon Shik Park has been named, ICAS Fellow, effective immediately.
Dr Y S Park is currently Professor of International Finance at the School of Business and Public Management of George
Washington University in Washington, D C. He has been teaching at the University for the past 21 years. In addition to
George Washington University, he also taught at Georgetown University and Columbia University.
Before joining the academia 22 years ago, he had worked for the World Bank as a Senior Economist and then served as the
Financial Advisor at the Samsung Group, currently the largest business group in Korea. Currently, Yoon Shik is a member
of the boards of directors of Samsung Corporation, a large Korean trading and construction company in Seoul, and the Korea
Economic Institute of America, Inc. in Washington. He is also President of the Korea Economic Society, whose members are
economic and finance professionals at the World Bank, IMF, and various U S government agencies working in the metropolitan
Washington area.
Among his many publications are Project Financing and International Financial Markets (1999), and four other books
as well as many articles and reports in the fields of international banking and finance. Regarding his research on Korea in
recent years, Yoon Shik written extensively on financial crisis, financial reforms, corporate governance, and new accounting
standards, among others. Prof Park has also been a frequent contributor of columns on economic and financial matters at
major Korean dailies.
Dr Park has been a consultant to the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC),
Inter-American Development Ban , U S Agency for International Development (AID), U S Federal Reserve, Overseas Private
Investment Corporation (OPIC), U S Export-Import Bank, Foreign Service Institute of the U S State Department, New York
State Banking Department, Pohang Iron and Steel Corporation (POSCO), Korea Institute for Economy and Technology, and other
private and public institutions around the world.
In addition to his MBA in finance and MA in econ Yoon Shik has received two doctorate degrees: Doctor of Business
Administration (DBA) in International Finance from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and PhD in
Economics from George Washington University.
