We are pleased to share with you the following brief summary of the select activities of ICAS for year of 1999:

2 / 26: ICAS hosted "ICAS [Winter] Symposium: Asia's Challenges Ahead". Sixteen papers were presented. Ambassador Rawdon Dalrymple of Sydney was the ICAS Dinner speaker.
4 / 22: Sang Joo Kim and Synja P. Kim were invited guests of the Officers and Trustees of the Heritage Foundation at the Heritage 25: Leadership for America Convention.
4 / 27: Sang Joo Kim and Synja P. Kim were invited delegates of the Officers and Directors of the Economic Strategy Institute at the 1999 International Trade & Economic Policy Forum.
5 /  7:ICAS hosted "ICAS [Spring] Symposium: Asia's Challenges Ahead". Eleven papers were presented. Minister Yafei He of the Embassy of People's Republic of China in Washington was the ICAS Dinner speaker.
6 / 14: ICAS hosted "ICAS Seminar: The Korean-American Community's Challenges Ahead: Crossroads and Possibilities: Korean Americans on the Eve of the Twenty-first Century". Kyeyoung Park was the dinner speaker.
6 / 27: Sang Joo Kim authored an article in the editorial page of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
6 / 28: ICAS has secured Mayor Edward G. Rendell's Proclamation of July 4, 1999 as Korea Day in Philadelphia.
6 / 30:ICAS has secured Governor Tom Ridge's Proclamation of July 3, 1999 as Korea Day in Pennsylvania.
7 / 19:ICAS hosted "ICAS Seminar: The Korean-American Community's Challenges Ahead: Issues and Answers: Goal, Leadership and Mainstream" . Pyong Gap Min was the dinner speaker.
8 / 13: ICAS hosted "ICAS Seminar: The Korean Peninsula Issues: Sunshine Policy and North Korea, Japan's Posture and China's Sensitivity". Rinn Sup Shinn was the dinner speaker.
9 / 14: ICAS hosted "ICAS Seminar: Presidents of South Korea and Public Diplomacy". Djun Kil Kim was the dinner speaker.
9 / 29: "ICAS [Fall] Symposium: China's Challenges Ahead" in Shanghai, China postponed at the request of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
12 / 20:ICAS Annual Liberty Award Dinner: Humanity and Human Rights: The Case of Hunger. U.S. Rep. Tony P Hall was the recipient of the Award.
