The Hon Seung Soo Han
Foreign Minister, South Korea
Dear Friend:
We are pleased to share with you that President Dae Jung Kim of South Korea
today named The Hon Seung Soo Han to be his new Foreign Minister, effective
immediately. Minister Han was a member of the National Assembly prior to this
new appointment and is a former ambassador to the United States during the
Clinton administration. He also served as Seoul's trade minister from 1988 to
1990 during the Reagan and Bush presidencies and Deputy Prime Minister for
Economic Affairs and Minister of Finance and Economy.
Minister Han made an official visit, then Ambassador, to Philadelphia on
October 20, 1993 as Honoured Guest of ICAS and delivered an
ICAS Lecture entitled "Korea and Emerging World Order"
(No 93-1020-SSH) at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr Han is a pre-eminent economist educated in Oxford University, England.
