We are pleased to share with you that Ambassdor Joseph DeTrani will address "State of North Korean Affairs: Challenges and Outlook" at the ICAS Fall Symposium on October 11, 2013 in Washington DC.

Joseph DeTrani was named President of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) on February 5, 2013. As President, he leads INSA as its Chief Executive Officer on a day-to-day basis.

Joseph has dedicated his professional career to public service with more than three decades of work for the US government. Most recently, he served as the Senior Advisor to the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), and before that Joseph served as the Director of the National Counter Proliferation Center (NCPC) and the National Intelligence Manager for Counter Proliferation (CP). He also served as the North Korea Mission Manager for the ODNI.

Prior to his work at the ODNI, Ambassador DeTrani served at the Department of State as the Special Envoy for the Six-Party Talks with North Korea, with the rank of Ambassador, and as the US Representative to the Korea Energy Development Organization.

Before his service at the State Department, he served at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as Director for Asia, Dirctor for Europe, Director of Technical Services, Director of Public Affairs, Director of the Crime and narcotics Center, and Executive Assistant to the Director of Central Intelligence.

Some of the awards Joseph received include: the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, the Distinguished Intelligence Medal, the National Intelligence Distingusihed Service Medal, the Donovan Award and the Commander's Award. Ambassador DeTrani speaks Chinese and French, and he received his bachelor's degree from New York University (NYU) and atttended the NYU School of Law and Graduate School of Business Administration.
