Dear Friend:

Christopher Chung, MD is currently an ICAS Intern and a member of the ICAS Youth Excellence Program. He was an ICAS Volunteer in his high school days.

Chris received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Pennsylvania in 2009, graduating summa cum laude with majors in Biochemistry and Biology. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa national honors society and was awarded the Roy and Marianthi Vagelos Scholarship by the chairman of the undergraduate Biochemistry Program at the University of Pennsylvania. As an undergraduate Chris participated in translational research under Dr. David B. Weiner in areas including HIV-1, Chikungunya virus, and DNA vaccines. His efforts have resulted in the co-authorship of six papers which have been published in peer-reviewed leading scientific journals.

As a medical student he conducted research on breast cancer, soft tissue reconstruction, and microsphere-based drug delivery in the Adipose Stem Cell Center. During this time Chris published two first author original articles in addition to a number of other co-authored publications.

After having completed his medical degree, Chris has now returned to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine to pursue his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology. His current research interests include cancer immunotherapy, checkpoint inhibitors, and gene therapy approaches.

Thank you.
