We are pleased to share with you that Honourable Jim Miller has been named ICAS Distinguished Fellow, effective immediately.

James N Miller, ICAS Distinguished Fellow, is President of Adaptive Strategies, LLC. He is a senior fellow at Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory and at Harvard University's Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs, and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Center for a New American Security. Jim is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and the Defense Science Board, where he co-authored a recent study on cyber deterrence.

Jim served as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy from 2012 to 2014, and as Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy from 2009 to 2012. He was awarded the Department of Defense's highest civilian award, the Medal for Distinguished Public Service, four times, and also received the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff's Joint Distinguished Civilian Award. Jim received a BA degree in economics from Stanford University, and Master's and PhD degrees in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Jim was a featured speaker at the ICAS Summer Special Symposium 2015 slated at the US Senate where he addressed, "North Korea's Nuclear and Missile Threats, Regional Security, and US National Security".
