Dear Friend: We are pleased to share with you that Violinist Marjory Serrano-Coyner will play Adagio from Sonata No. 1 in G minor, S. 1001 by J. S. Bach in honour of GEN Walter "Skip" Sharp gracing the ICAS Annual Liberty Award Celebration Dinner 2024. Dr Marjory Serrano-Coyer is a highly accomplished Venezuelan violinist, educator, and performer. Her early years were spent in Venezuela's renowned "El Sistema" program. She began studying under the guidance of Ismenia Molina at the Aragua Symphony Foundation. As a teenager, Marjory honed her skills at the Academia Latinoamericana de Violin with Jose Francisco del Castillo and Sergio Celis. Throughout her formative years, she also had the privilege of learning from notable instructors including Maestro William Naranjo and Pablo Vazquez. Marjory's talent has graced prestigious stages around the world under notable conductors such as Larry Livingston and Lorin Maazel. As an educator and performer, she has shared her knowledge and passion for music through lectures and performances across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Notable venues where Marjory has presented and/or performed include Princeton University, Carnegie Hall in New York City, The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D C, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles; as well as various locations throughout Europe such as Budapest and Salzburg, and major venues throughout Latin America. Recently, Dr Serrano-Coyer released a captivating album titled "Sonatas Venezolanas," which is gaining media attention in the United States, Latin America, Australia, and Europe. This album, recorded with her long-time collaborator Dr Hsin Yi Chen at the studios of Sono Luminos, features world premier recordings of two sonatas for violin and piano composed by historically and culturally significant mid-20th century Venezuelan composers Angel Sauce and Nelly Mele Lara.
