Andrew S Hong
Andrew Sukjoon Hong is an attorney focused on privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging technology governance. Andrew currently serves as an Assistant Attorney General in the Privacy Unit of the Consumer Fraud Bureau at the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, where he advises on and enforces state consumer protection and cybersecurity laws involving evolving regulatory frameworks and large-scale data incidents. Andrew's work includes multistate matters, evaluation of enterprise compliance programs, analysis of emerging technology and regulatory issues, and matters involving governance controls and technical safeguards.
Andrew's interests include the intersection of privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence governance, and international technology policy.
Andrew earned his JD from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he received a merit-based full tuition scholarship and a Pro Bono Service Notation Award. He received his BA in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego, with minors in Accounting and History. Andrew also earned a Fundamentals of Cybersecurity Certificate from City University of Seattle on a full scholarship. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and California and holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) designation.
