Dr Chun Jae (CJ) Park is Chairman of the Global Taekwondo Heritage Foundation and a faculty member in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University, where he has taught since 2002 and serves as Coordinator for International Relationship in the Center for Sports Management. CJ is also President and Founder of World Champion Tae Kwon Do Academy in Falls Church, Virginia.

A former World Taekwondo Champion, CJ won the gold medal in the welterweight division at the 5th World Taekwondo Championships in Ecuador in 1982 and was awarded the Order of the White Horse by the President of the Republic of Korea for his outstanding athletic achievement. He holds a 9th-degree black belt from Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Kukkiwon, the Council of World Taekwondo (WT), and the Council of the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU). CJ also serves as President of the Pan American/USA Taekwondo Grandmasters Federation and as Advisor to the Board of USA Taekwondo.

CJ has devoted more than three decades to advancing Taekwondo education and leadership through teaching, coaching, and service in national and international Taekwondo organizations. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership positions, including Head Coach of the U.S. National Taekwondo Team, President of the Virginia State Taekwondo Association, and Assistant to the President of the Korean Olympic Committee.

Since 2025 he has formed Capitol Taekwondo Club teaching members of the US Congress.

CJ earned his PhD in the Social Psychology of Leisure and Sports from the University of Maryland, following graduate studies at Springfield College and Korea National Sport University. His teaching and research focus on martial arts programs for stress management, the history and philosophy of Asian martial arts, Taekwondo, the social psychology of sport and leisure, sports psychology, and coaching science. He has published extensively in these fields, including A Study on the Philosophy of King Jung Jo of the Cho Sun Dynasty in Martial Arts, and is the author of the forthcoming book Sports Beyond Sports: An Inquiry into Humanities-Oriented Sports.
