H. E. Ki Moon Ban
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Republic of Korea

to become

The United Nations Secretary-General

Dear Friend:

We are pleased to share with you that the UN General Assembly adopted this evening a resolution by acclamation appointing Minister Ki Moon Ban to the eighth UN Secretary-General and that his term of five years will commence on January 1, 2007.

The Secretary-General Ban will oversee the world body with 92,000 peacekeepers around the globe and a $5 billion annual budget.
He is known to be "exceptionally attuned to the sensitivities of countries and constituencies in every continent and would be a man with a truly global mind at the helm of the world's only universal organization".

The ICAS Youth Excellence Program members paid a visit with Minister Ban -then Ambassador and Chef de Cabinet, Office of the President of the UN General Assembly- on September 6, 2002. Recently, a team of ICAS senior management as Delegate also visited with him on September 21, 2006 when he addressed the Sixty-first session General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Sang Joo Kim / signed
