Steve C. Clemons
Biographic Sketch

Steven C. Clemons is Executive Vice President of the New America Foundation, a centrist public policy center based in Washington, D.C. He is also Director and Co-Founder of the Japan Policy Research Institute. Prior to joining the New America Foundation in May 1999, Clemons served as Executive Vice President of the Economic Strategy Institute, a leading economic policy think tank based in Washington. Before joining ESI, Clemons served for three years as Senior Policy Advisor for International and Economic Affairs to Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM). From 1993-95, Clemons served as the first Executive Director of the Nixon Center for Peace & Freedom (now the Nixon Center), a bipartisan foreign and domestic policy center, which is associated with the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace. From 1987-1993, Clemons served as Executive Director of the Japan America Society of Southern California.
